How To Use These Resources

You don't need to know about the ocean to teach about the ocean. Theses resources aim to make it fun and easy. Simply search the phenomena-based imagery for the subject you want to focus on. Then download the image of your choice and display it in the classroom. Ask the students to investigate what they see to help them develop driving questions. There are also suggested driving questions to help guide your students if needed. California teachers looking to fulfill the Environmental Principles and Concepts will notice EP&C tags specially marked as well.

For an added layer of interest, you can select the dive mask feature in the top right corner of underwater images before downloading them. Ask your students to imagine putting on a dive mask and jumping in the ocean, and question what they see.
